Actually this is really interesting. I start to wonder how long I have had GD without it being active enough to diagnose.

I have had a couple of periods of depression over the last couple of years – not severe, just the kind where you spend a lot of time in front of the TV with no energy.

I’ve also experienced that zombie-like “staring into space” that somebody else described. I spent a lot of my thesis time doing that!

Also for a long time I’ve had a slightly dodgy memory – it sometimes takes a little pause when people ask me what I did on the weekend.

Mind you, lucky me, I also grew up in a “dysfunctional” family, and the above are also the symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder. I spend interesting hours trying to distinguish between my symptoms so I can report them to the correct health provider! ironic : )

Anybody else have longer terms symptoms without some of the more severe ones that make it more obvious that something biochemical is giong on?

By the way ms graves – the speech problems we were describing have the same pattern as your memory. Some days I can remember a word, sometimes I cant. However the “cant” days are usually the days I feel tired. It could be graves.

How about weight changes of 100lbs one way or the other in a couple of months? When I was in my mid to late teens, I would experience this up till my late 20’s. It was odd, I had my skinny wardrobe and my fat wardrobe. Not much for in between, because I wasn’t in between long enough to need a separate wardrobe for that…and I really did loose or gain around 100lbs within a 2 month period. I had headaches for years, so bad I had to crawl to go to the bathroom, if I stood up the pressure was so bad I thought my head would explode.
