Barb,
Discuss with your doctor the possibility of a tarsarophy (sewing and cauterizing
the ends of the eyelids shut). This decreases the size fo the eye opening and
thus helps to keep the eyes in and moist. I had it done three times (twice on
the left eye and once on the right) and it did help for awhile. I also had a hard
pallet graft done in my lower eye lids. They take the hard pallet from the roof
of your mouth and graft it into your lower eyelids. The hard pallet is like a
piece of stiff cardboard and props up the lower lid also reducing exposure and
helping to keep the eye in. My eyes used to fall out five or more times
a day. The tarsarophy and hard pallet graft worked until the decompression could
be done. If you doctor is not familiar with these procedures e-mail me and I will
send the doctors name to my doctor and have some litriture sent.God Bless Barb!!

Thanks Jake I appeciate the help I really doand to Susan Imight add while I’m here, thanks.Anyways Jake I have had the corners of them stitched three times now and they have come undone due to the pressure of being pushed outwards, but thanks I haven’t heard of the other but will be going to my endercrinoligist on Thurs and hope to get some answers there as I do know he was interested in the eye part long before the eye doctor and myself were concerned,so maybe he saw something we didn’t see coming but Im sure ready to talk about my eyes now and who knows maybe he can help set me up with a different doctor, lets hope anyways.Iwill e-mail you after Thurs if he hasn’t heard of the other before and maybe then i can give you the name of the doctor so you can e-mail the infor to the doctors office.thanks JakeAnonymousFebruary 23, 1998 at 5:47 pmPost count: 93172Hi Barb,
May I ask if you have gotten a second opinion on those lovely eyes?
Might that be an option at this point? I really don’t understand why you must quit smoking for 6 months first.JAN
AnonymousFebruary 23, 1998 at 6:39 pmPost count: 93172I hope everyone would agree that this is enough from here on in thats enough! So here is a brand new beginning for everyone and with big hugs.
So now I have a question that I would like as many people as possible to post an answer if they will,so I might get a really good picture of what others might do.If your eyes were coming out almost daily and you had to sleep sitting up,and basically this disease was stopping you from living you were just existing and your doctors told you you had to quit smoking for 6 months, keeping in mind that the eyes are coming out daily sometimes 5-6 times in a day, what would any of you people do? Now remember I do know to quit but what do I do in the meantime with the eyes just go on the way I have been?I really would appreciate lots of feed-back on this as I have to make some decisions soon, and I thank all of you and hope you all let the sunshine in today, right now is just as good as any don’t you all agree. If I COULD DRAW A SUN HAPPY FACE i WOULDhahaha BarbAnonymousFebruary 23, 1998 at 9:26 pmPost count: 93172Dear Jan
I would get a second opinion but see I go to the eye doctor in Peterborough and he did what he could for me and then sent me to Toronto to see the big eye doctor as far as eye specialist goes and he measures them and sends me on my way, thats fine I see him in 6 months which I did a couple of times, but now that my eyes are really bad no one will see me until I get my 6months in,now the last time he saw me my eyes measured 28mm so I did try to get in to Peterborough doctor but he said no use there’s nothing else I can do for you I have referred you to Toronto and thats all I can do,so fine.Phoned the doctor in Toronto and his nurse says he won’t do anything until this 6 months is in and then period conversation is over and still no one has seen me and it has been about 6-7 weeks since my eyes really started coming out daily, before that they might have came out 5 times in 4 yearsSo I had no choice but to go to my local paper and let them do a story about it,they did in hopes a doctor would come forward to help me is why I did this but no one did. So here I’am with the BB and no doctor to even see me.So Jan how do I get another opinion,I don’t know either, but I’am trying to over the net even if I do HAVE TO GO OUT OF StATE,Later Jan as for why I have to quit Iguess its there hang-upAnonymousFebruary 23, 1998 at 11:28 pmPost count: 93172Now I see what you are up against! Can you afford to come to the states and see a doctor here? If so, e-mail me and jake or I can give you some doctors names. Glad to help, as always.
