Hi everybody. I think I remember somebodying saying itching and burning skin (rash?) from Methimazole (sp?) Does prednisone help or is it time for other treatment choice? I plan on being the first call in to my doctor this morning. This is NOT funny! I’ve been on the ATD for two weeks and i was hoping it would work for me.

Thanks. P.S. I really enjoy the BB and its good to see how everyone works things out (sensitive subjects, etc.) Your posts have beeen very helpful, encouraging and supportive. Thanks again.

Yes, methimazole can cause a reaction. My endo told me this when
he first presribed it. Also, it gets a mention it Steve Chin’s
Graves Disease Page http://home.pacific.net.sg/~choco/. Look under
Treatment, Antithyroid Drugs, Thionamides. I was told a reaction
could happen right away (like you), in several months (like me)
or never (like lots of others). My doc just changed me to another
med. It’s always good practice to ‘listen’ to your body. Don’t
dismiss any new symptom as ‘trivial’.

    Don’t “Take care”, “Take Charge!”
