Hi everyone!
I am Roxanne from Ohio, US. My friend has been suffering from Grave’s Disease for the past few months. It is really sad to see her suffering like that. I was wondering whether there is any cure for it?
Hi Roxanne, no there is not a cure for Graves’. But there is a path of treatments, that will get her back to feeling good.
It is not safe, and potentially dangerous, not to treat Graves’. Is she under someone’s care? There are evidence based methods of helping her. She should be under a doctor’s care, preferably an endocrinologist, and also educate herself about the path of Graves. She can learn a lot by posting on this bulletin board, and by reading some of the articles referenced on the main page of the ngdf. website.
ShirleyHello – We don’t have separate forums here, but you can do a search on this site for “ATDs”, “Anti-Thyroid Drugs”, “Surgery”, “Thyroidectomy”, “RAI”, “Radioactive Iodine”, etc. to read some first-hand experiences from patients who have selected the various options. The search box is towards the top left-hand corner of the screen.
Also, here is an article from Dr. David Cooper that does a great job of addressing the various treatment options. (You will need to use your browser’s "back" button to return to the boards after viewing).

Hope this helps!
My sister in laws brother has graves. I had never heard of this before and will send them a link to this forum. We are so lucky to have the internet with this ind of support. Thank you!
Hi. I’m also new here. My boyfriend had been diagnosed recently to have graves disease. I’m really worried for him because I can see that he’s really upset after learning his ailment. Honestly , I don’t know anything about this sickness. And now that I’ve learned here that there’s no cure for it, I don’t know how I can help him. I’m interested to learn more about its treatment. Can you please guide me on this? Thanks a lot.
Hello – please see my comments a couple of posts up on researching treatment options…if you have more specific questions, please let us know.
Thank you so much Kimberly. The articles on treatment options are very encouraging.
My husband has recently been diagnosed with graves. It’s all really quite scary having someone so close go through something like this. Thanks for this forum it’s nice to know we don’t have to go through all this alone.
It’s comforting to see so many people are willing to provide information here. My niece was diagnosed with Grave’s Disease 3 weeks ago. She has a lot of fear and anxiety right now. I’m trying to help her by locating viable resources where she can learn more about her options, and hopefully, interact with others who have been down this road. After a look around here, I sent her a link to the site. And I am so glad to have found it.
Thanks to all who are willing to help others find their way around. I just know she’ll be in a stronger position as soon as she can see how others are dealing the same issues she now needs to face.
