I have received a fax from a fellow GD sufferer that details her success with weight control after going into the hypo phase after RAI. I think it has some interesting tips. I do not have a way to scan it into my computer, but would be happy to fax it to anyone that’s interested. It isn’t medically specific or anything, just gives some really good tips on how to find a way to get started attacking the problem. By the way, I cannot join in chat sessions at nite since my I-net connection is through my business computer. E-mail me at engweld@srv.net with your fax number or snail mail address and I will send copy. The thing I like about this, is that it offers hope.

        Hi everyone,

It has been a few months since I have last posted a message, since my diagnosis and treatment (PTU and propronolol) have have been doing very well. I am now off of the propranolol and my dosage of PTU has also been cut. The hardest part for me now is the weight gain I have been experiencing with my “better” health. Before I was diagnosed, I could eat anything I wanted without gaining any weight, but now, after only two months of being on medication, I have gained 14 pounds and am having problems adjusting to this. My friends and family say I look so much better, but going from 120 lbs. to 134lbs. has been a difficult change and I am struggling to maintain my weight around 130. I know I am not overweight for my height and age, but when my clothes start to get tighter… and being so used to being so thin before… it seems like a never ending cycle of ups and downs with this disease! Am I the only one who has experienced this type of problem? Does anyone else understand?

        Hope everyone is doing well,
        Rochelle
