Hi all! I recently asked one of my doctors at Mayo Clinic if they have seen a
rise in the number of GD cases in recent years. His response: “We looked at the
frequency with which new cases of Graves ophthalmopathy cases were diagnosed
during the 15 years of our epidemiology study and did not find an increasing
trend. Perhaps the absolute number of persons seeking medical care for this
problem is on the rise with the increasing population in general, and with
heightened awareness of the disease because of Mrs. Bush.”

And I would add that the increasing numbers of people finding this BB make
it seem like there’s an increase in the number of diagnosed cases!
