I’ve gone through something similar periodically over the past couple of years (kind of comes and goes). With me the problem is that I insert words that have nothing to do with what I want to say. As an example, over Christmas I told my father that I needed to go to another room to get my cigarettes. What I meant to say was book. I’ve never smoked (I was however looking at his ashtray.)
Another time, I was giving a presentation at work (to about 40 people), and I meant to say something about “retailers”. Instead I said “realtors.” More than once.
I forget some of the other ones, but about 6 months ago I kept mentioning screw-ups to my boyfriend, and telling him to remember that I was messing up, in case my mind went completely.
Since then, the problem has eased up.
I don’t think you really develop dyslexia later in life, I think it’s always there. Dyslexia is rampant in my family (mother, sister, brother, 2 nephews), and for those who have it, it’s always been very obviously there.
Maybe, instead, you’re just kind of run down, and this is how the problem is manifesting itself. Maybe as your Graves levels out a bit, the problem will go away.

Yes, I have had those things happen also exactly
as you are saying. It was much worse before RAI but
I still get times like that. I think if you read
some of the posts here on the BB you will find that
we are not alone.

However, I do the same thing, as far as saying or writing the wrong word, etc… I just blame it on being preoccupied. So I wouldn’t worry, you are probably very preoccupied too.
AnonymousFebruary 9, 2000 at 12:21 amPost count: 93172I posted this on my FM email list and have gotten many replies about it. I am wondering though if it is also symptomatic of Graves? Any feedback appreciated.
MariaI’m starting to think I am beginning to develop dyslexia or something. I
keep switching words around and thoughts.
For example, I was suggesting to someone that they split a pill in half, and what I actually typed was “split a people in half”. I laughed at myself, but I don’t normally do such things while typing. Or “to do so” was originally “Do to so”
These are not typing mistakes. They are cognitive errors. And no, it’s not because I am tired. Even while writing by hand I am tending to mix up b’s and p’s..I’ve never done that before. This is really bothering me. I can excuse myself when I am speaking. Writing is a different matter entirely to me because I am actually seeing the words as they come out and it still doesn’t register until much later that I made an error. It has been happening A LOT and frankly, I’m starting to get scared.
This isn’t the normal “fog” I experience either.
