I am an Australian who has been a Graves’ Disease sufferer for
8+ years, and have given birth during that time. I went into
spontaneous remission last September only to become highly toxic
again in July this year. Coping with this illness for this long
has become tiresome and all too much for myself and all those
    who know me!!.

I would like to talk with anyone who has had I-131 capsule and their
consequental results and if there was any further complications with
this treatment, why do the doctors push this treatment, and also want
to know if you are planning to have any more children – does this mean
    there is ovary damage?

Also would like to hear from anyone who has had partial thyroidectomy,
and their results and symptons. Has anyone actually become uthyroid
    from surgery?

    Thanks, Sylvia.

    Sylvia,
Do you know there is an Australian Thyroid Foundation
in NSW the phone no. is 02 98906962?

I had apartial thyroidectomy 3 yrs ago. Everything went
well – I have a fine scar. My parathyroid glands were
probably damaged and I now need to take Calcium and Vit
    D.

If you scroll back thru the last few months there are
    heaps of postings discussing RAI.

    Kathleen.
