I’ve often wondered the same thing myself.

My primary doc seems very knowledgeable about thyroid problems in general, and I think he treated me the same way he has treated all his hyperthyroid patients. BUT, he ignored my eye problems when they began, and, recently told me that since my thyroid levels are out of range again, even after RAI in March, that he doesn’t know enough about RAI the second time around and wants me to go to an endo.

I really like him ’cause he treats me like a person and is down to earth, but he just isn’t qualified to treat me anymore since I’m one of those lucky few that has to battle this disease longer than most. :-)

So now the search begins for an endo and ophtho who don’t mind if I bring them questions based on info from the bb. Even if we are wrong, they should have the good grace to give us the correct information in a non-condescending way. And they should respect us for caring enough to do the research so we can make intelligent decisions about our bodies, which we live with 24 hours a day, and they don’t think about us once we leave their offices.

I’ll get off my soapbox now.

Three cheers! I’ll ride that soapbox anytime!
