I had RAI about 3 weeks ago, and now all of a sudden I feel really hot in my mouth and throat. Has anyone else had this after RAI? This long after RAI? My doctor didn’t seem concerned by it.

I did RAI on March 1, 1994. The area around my thyroid did
“feel” warm for 3-5 days post-RAI. It is possible that the
feelings you are having are from the RAI doing what it
is supposed to do by shutting down cells in your thyroid.
I don’t know how to explain the “hot mouth” though. The
only relationship that I am aware of there is the fact
that some of the RAI dose is secreted in your saliva thus
the recommendation to use throw-away eating utensils and
not kissing anyone for at least the first 5 days or
so afterwards. I hope this helps some….
