I do know that Johns Hopkins University (a Top Medical Organization here in the US) stopped the combination of antithyroid meds and supplemental hormones because of failure rates. They now only use antityroid drugs (without supplemental hormones) to treat GD, and their success rate has doubled. Between 1986 and 1989, they had NOONE who went into remission while on the combination therapy, but about 32% of the people on just antithyroids went into remission. They changed their treatment regimen at the end of 1990.

      Hope this helps,

      Ron
