    Hello,
Wondering about other peoples_ experiences with hair loss. Specifically with those on medication (methimazole). I suspect the answers with be varied and there’s no consistent trend, but even knowing there’s a range of experiences might be helpful. I lost a tonne of hair about 5 months after starting meds, thought it was done after maybe 3 months only to have it start up again a year or so into treatment. Hoping this round will slow down and that will be it, but it seems nothing is predictable with Graves.

Hello – Hopefully, you will see some relief from the hair loss once levels are both normal and stable (not swinging high/low). You might pose this question in our Facebook group, as that tends to be more active. (Go to Facebook, do a search for @gdatf and then select “join group”). You will get a notification to answer our new member questions plus agree to the group rules.

Hi, I have Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. I have lost hair on my legs and my underarms, mostly. Unfortunately, I am not on any type of thyroid medication. All my hormone levels are normal and bloodwork is normal, I only show the antibodies for Hashi’s. When I take a shower, I do have a lot of hair that falls out, but I wouldn’t say it is “excessive”. I don’t have bare spots on my head or anything like that. I very rarely shave, that started a few years ago, 3 years ago, I didn’t have as much hair grow. I shave maybe 2 times a year at most. Sorry you are going thru this.
