My question is; with my hair thining due to Graves, is it a good idea to perm my hair? Anyones input would be helpful to me. Thanks and I hope all of you had a bearable holiday.

I would say (this is not an expert opinion) do NOT perm hair that is thinning due to Graves’. It is weak and very vulnerable. You could end up with one heck of a nasty nightmare hairdo (or lack of hair). Perms are very damaging and remove all natural moisture for at least a few days. Seems like a real recipe for disaster and I would avoid it at all costs.
Just my opinion — I do not have specific experience with this exactly, though I do have naturally “fine, thin” hair and have gotten perms before. I do know what damage they can cause hair, and it seems like my hair would have been regarded as “healthy” compared to ‘thyroid-thinning’ hair.
I’ve seen some advice here to be extra careful, extra cautious, with “our” kind of hair.
Good luck, whatever you decide!

The chemicals that are used to perm or straighten are quite harsh, and even healthy hair can sometimes be damaged by them. My recommendation would be to spend the money instead on a really good hairdresser who is skilled at cutting hair. Not everyone who wields scissors knows how to cut hair well. But a good cut/trim can make up for a lot of other types of styling problems we have with our hair.

I too have very fine and thin hair.
All I can say, it was nice to have it curly again and have some body!!
