Hi, my name is Tammy and I’m very new to this BB. I’m writing for the first time. I have two children, Alexandra (3 1/2) and Madison who is (17 months). I was diagnosed with Discoid Lupus 7 years ago and during my 1st pregnancy was on Prednisone throughout the duration of my pregnancy and my breastfeeding my daughter for nine months. During that time I had symptoms which consisted of a variety of symptoms which I attributed to pregnancy (hormones). The symptoms consisted of severe diarhea, hot flashes, extreme heat intolerance, high blood pressure, and mood swings (which I attributed to Prednisone), memory loss and vague feelings of just not being right. I gave birth to a healthy baby but was induced early because of my blood pressure (on bed rest for 10 weeks). I breastfed for nine months and three months later got pregnant again. This time, I lost the baby at 12 weeks and hemoraged so bad I had to have surgery. Three months after that, I conceived again and this were well until about six months when I started experiencing problems again (amniotic fluid was low and I had the same symptoms as my prior pregnancies, this time with heart palpitations and heart murmur being detected on me). At 34 weeks I was induced and gave birth to a beautiful healthy girl. I breast fed for 1 year. During that time I felt so depressed, had mood swings, temper flair ups, palpitations, muscle weakness, insomnia (so bad I would cry and it wasn’t the baby keeping me up), felt like my heart was jumping out of my throat, I shook so bad, had acne, excema, and bulging eyes and more. My father passed away when my baby was three months old so I attributed all of this to stress. I then found out (when my baby was 1 year old) that I had Grave’s Disease (thyroid was working four times the rate it was supposed to and it weighed 85 grams – normal, I was told, is supposed to be 24 grams). Could I have had Graves since my first pregnancy? How long does it take for your thyroid to grow to three times the size it’s supposed to be? Could my miscarriage be related to Graves? I was put on PTU and Tapizol in January of this year (2 weeks after I was diagnosed) and developed an alergy to both and was taken off them in March. I had RAI on April 12 and developed a rash on my arms (red, patchy and bumpy), panic attacks, labored breathing, itching, ravenous appetite, anxiety, and fast heart rate. My doctor told me I would feel nothing after the RAI, so why am I having these symptoms and what can I expect for my future. I’d like to have another child . . . Am I crazy? Is it safe? Tell me when I’ll feel better please . . . Sorry so long, but I had a lot of explaining to do. Thank you in advance for listening . . .!!!
