I am going to take a Thyroid Scan tomorrow 3/30 and am concerned about the test. I have a history of autoimmune didease in my family ( my father had a very, very very, low white bolood count). Can the Radioactive Iodine give for a Thyroid Scan be harmful, and could I get a reaction from it, or could it cause further complications? Are there any other ways to test for Graves Disease? Also, anyone out there
have a Viral Infection in their Thyroid, and if so how was it treated.
Any help or info. is much appreciated, and I need answers ASAP, THANKS

I had a lot white blood count when my Grave’s was diagnosed. I didn’t have any problems with the thyroid scan.

When my mother was in her 40s she had strep throat which she got over but then immediately had thyroiditis. She took a course of steroids and got better.
