I’ve been having hot flashes so I’m wondering if it’s GD, this Texas heat or menopause. My thyroid numbers have been good and I get them checked again in two weeks. It’s Texas and hitting 100 degrees. I’m 41 and take birth control pills continuously for endometriosis so I don’t have periods, so I don’t know if it could be early menopause or not.

Just whoever’s in charge of the thermostat, please turn it down!!

I had mild hyperthyroidism that resolved spontaneously about two years ago, and I have been feeling fine ever since. Lately, though, I have begun to experience transient but frequent sensations of heat, accompanied by profuse sweating. These “flashes” just last a very short time, but it seems as if my inner thermostat has really gone bonkers. I am definitely of perimenopausal age, so I’d like to ask any other members of the board who have experienced menopause or perimenopause about their experiences. When you experience the sensation of being hot with Graves’, are you hot all the time, or does it come and go? I think I am probably just going through a perfectly natural stage, and I’m not particularly anxious to see my doctor unless it is really indicated. I don’t think I ever really felt hot before, even when I was being treated for Graves, but I gather than many people with Graves feel hot all the time (given how much your metabolism is revved up, I guess that makes sense). Has anyone experienced both types of perceived heat?
