I just thought I would share my story with you. You see I guess we are very similar. I was diagnosed about 4 years ago. I had the RAI treatment, from then on I cant tell you what happened. I was never very thin but I also never weighed as much as I do now. I probably gained 60 pounds after all that. I have 2 kids and never weighed this much. I hate the way I am. I am also not a big eater, and not a lot of junk food either. I have had to go thru many doctors till I finally found one That seems to be more compastionite. I saw my endo back in May. My levels were normal. I told him of a product that I bought called Zenadrine, He didnt tell me not to take it or to take it. He just told me what it does. The first week of taking it was kinda hard, because it was making my heart race but then I just took it easy and became I quess immuned (if that is the right word to use!) to it and that wasnt happening anymore. But I did loose almost 20pounds, I think I lost more in inches then weight from size 20 to 16. I at least feel a little better. Try to see if you can talk to your doctor about it, and if it doesnt work try a new doctor, I think it is very hard to find one that is willing to help. Good Luck!!!
JackieI am a 26 year old very active woman with Graves’ Disease. I was diagnosed 3 years ago and since then have run 2 full marathons and felt great. My only issue, and it feels like a huge one, is that i keep gaining weight. When I was diagnosed I weighed 130 lbs. I now weigh 165 lbs. and it is really beginning to affect all aspects of my life. I am still running and riding my bike but I can’t seem to lose. My diet consists of fruits, veggies, grains and meats. I am careful about what I eat. I do eat normal things like pizza and an occasional cremee(that’s what we Vermonters call soft serve ice cream)but that is not what my diet consists of. Why do I keep gaining????!!!!! Does anyone out there share the same kind of an experience???
