This is my first post, though I’ve been reading all of your posts ever since I found this BB in November.
I was diagnosed with Graves’ in January 1998, had RAI in February 1998 and, according to my Endo, am currently ‘within normal TSH range’ on .5mg S………

I do not yet feel good. When I was first diagnosed I had tremors, heat intolerance, muscle weakness, resting pulse of 120, some weight loss and the overall feeling that I was sick. I went to see my GP because I thought I had Mono. My TSH was .01 (Normal = 0.47 – 5.01). I was on PTU and a beta-blocker for about 3 months. Then TSH was 28.63. I was starting to feel the Hypo effects (constant bloated feeling, sleepy, weight gain of 25 lbs) and wasn’t surprised when the Endo took me off all meds. Felt wonderful a few weeks later with a TSH of .41. Tested again in July with TSH of .1

By August I was beginning the downward slide into what has, by far, been the worst leg of this long journey. My Endo appointment wasn’t for another 6 months and I didn’t understand why I was feeling so awful. By December I suspected I needed hormone replacement, but my Endo’s office was pretty strict about sticking to the appointments set by the Dr. So I waited.

Friday, Feb. 12th my results were TSH at 7.18 = elevated; Total T3 at 105 = nml; T4 at 10.2 = nml. I have been taking .5 mg S….. ever since, but still feel sleepy, have brain fog, am paranoid, achy, manic- depressive, cold and just so fed up with my thyroid. My husband was getting sick of my whining (cabin fever in Minnesota). My Endo said I would feel better once I started the S……..

I thought for sure that I was still Hypo and needed an increase, but my tests in April were TSH at 2.27 = nml; Total T3 at 84 = nml; T4 at 12.9 = slightly elevated. I tried to get some answers from my Endo regarding my memory loss, feeling cold and depression symptoms, but he was not sympathetic. “You are not concentrating enough at work….you’re neck is not constricted, you’re just tensing…..its possible that you have a neurological disorder, but it is highly unlikely that any of this is related to your thyroid…..”

Having read so many other testimonials which confirm that I am not making these symptoms up, I am beginning to wonder if it is time for a new Endo. Is it typical to have appointments every 12 weeks once you are on S……..? Is it typical to wait 10 working days for your lab results?
