I just had orbital Decompression surgery to remove the fat pockets surronding
the eye. I had this done August 10. My eye fell back into place so to speak
and it looks wonderful and this is the first time in two years my eyes completely
close at night. These past few days I have noticed extreme tearing and
dryness that is driving my crazy. Did anyone experience this please let me know.

    Hi Gia,
Glad to hear your surgery went well. I have had 3 decompression surgeries
and a recent strabismus surgery and my eyes still tear. They tear
basically because they are dry. This means the Graves’ eye disease is still sort of
active. The best thing to do is to use artificial tears, preservative free
eye drops purchased at the drug store..I was told to use them as often as possible.
I know it does not seem like it makes sense because you think if they are
tearing why would I use more drops.. By keepin the eyes moist it
prevents you from developing corneal ulcers that can be a result of the Graves’
disease not keeping the eyes moist. Hopefully in time it will go away..
Try to keep positive and do not let it get you down it does get better:)

    Have a nice weekend,
    Dee
