Its been a while since i have posted. I have been battling this stupid disease and i have had about enough. My endo is happy with my results because they are in the “NORMAL” range however im feeling far
from normal. He thought that i am suffering from clinical depression because i am still experiencing the symptoms even though my
tyroid is in the normal range. The first anti depressant i was allergic
to and the second has got me so i dont even know what day it is and i am not even paying any of my bils and daily life is one big blur. I go back to my GP tomorrow for a check up and my question to all of you have any of you had similar roads. The endo was hoping for the symptoms to go away with these anti depressants but they are still all
there but now i have more fog than i had before.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hello, I was much moved by your posting! I too am in “normal” range, though still suffer many of the side affects/symptoms of GD. My endo insists that since my test results are within range, then it’s not the GD. I am on Tapazole 10mg/day and Levoxyl 50mcg/day. I also stay under the close watch of my PCP. He has me on 2 different anti-depressants as well as a tranquilizer to take the edge off. Initially, he had me consult with a psychiatrist who specializes in chemical imbalances (chemical depression). I found that my PCP was more caring and willing to work with me on this. Now, since I’ve been on the same regime for about 2 months or so, I am beginning to feel a bit like my old self again. I’m not really sure that I believe I’ll ever be my old self, but the bit that I’m feeling now sure does feel good to me. The anti-depressants are: Paxil 60mg/day, Imiprimine 150mg/day. The traquilizer is Lorazepam .50mg 3Xday. Speak with your physicians, make them hear you. Your health is in your own hands, and you need to show them you’ve got a voice, and an opinion to this matter! I wish you well, and please let us know how you’re doing. If you wish, you may e-mail me directly at augeritm@aol.com.
My best and warmest wishes to you!

You might try getting a copy of the book, The Thyroid Solution. In it, the author (an endocrinologist) talks a bit about depression and thyroid hormone issues.

There are a lot of different antidepressants, working on different aspects of the problem, and sometimes it can be difficult to find the right one. It also takes some of them a while to build up sufficiently in our systems to bring about measurable change in symptoms. But, most likely, your doctor is already working with that. I do hope you get help that works, soon.
