Denny did you get my E-mail 12/28/96? Voltaren-XR 100mg is an
arthritis med that my Dr. stated that had good results with
joint pain associated with GD. I have swelling and lots of
joint pain but no arthritis. I thought I had sever arthritis
but a bone scan proved differently. I was told the pain can
be just as painful. My joints can stand the stress of bowling

Hi,

When I wake up in the morning my fingers are slightly swollen and my thumb will pop at the joint when I bend it. It will get better a bit into the morning. Is this a Graves thing?

Lisa,

I’ve been wondering the same thing. I’ve had bursitis in my knees and hip a few times over the years (and I had hyperthyroid symptoms all that time which went undiagnosed) then last year I noticed swelling and soreness in my finger joints. I thought I was getting arthritis. When I went for my checkup, I asked the doctor. He thought it was arthritis too and said he’d run bloodwork to check. A few days later he called and said come back for more blood, it looks like you’re hyperthyroid. I never did ask about the arthritis. But why did he check my thyroid? Anyone out there know if this is a symptom?
