Hi Shannon! I USED to wear contact lenses, but have not been comfortable wearing them with my current eye problems (esp. dryness). I never thought to ask the ophthalmologist about going back to them in the future, so appreciate you bringing it up. Anyone else out there?

Is there anyone with Graves eye disease who wears contacts?

I tried, but my eye specialist advised against it. The contacts that are on the
market are not wide enough, or hold enough moisture. Mine would pop out
if I turned my head quickly..Great fun while driving…

At least one eyeglass chain will not give contacts to anyone with Graves’
Disease. I made the mistake of putting on their health form and they
would not sell them even though I have no Graves eye diesease and experienced
this disease 30 years ago. So if you want contacts and don’t have Graves
eye problems don’t tell. I would not think it would be a comfortable idea
if you eyes are protruding. How would they stay in if the lids are retracted.
Anyone with eye problems that can wear contacts?

Hi…I wear contact lenses. My vision stinks, I am minus 650 in one eye and
minus 700 in the other eye. For me, my problems involve dryness. So I use
disposables. They are very comfortable. I wear them for two weeks, throw them
out and pop in a new pair. My glasses, even with the ultra thin lenses are pretty
thick, so I really work at the contact lens thing. Good luck…Carolyn

I’ve worn hard contacts since 1975. Before I was diagnosed with Graves’, I was having minor problems with one eye, sometimes not being able to pop the lens out at night. I panicked after I got here, reading what problems some are having with their eyes. About two weeks ago, I happened to notice a little black dot on the lens I was inserting into my left eye. DUH! Since I have started wearing the right lens in the right eye, <g/>” title=”<g>” class=”bbcode_smiley” /> I’ve had none ot the difficulty getting either of them out. I keep looking in the mirror, though, for the telltale signs…</p>
