I am a 47 yr old male with Graves disease. Have had 3 RAI treatments in the last year and a half.
Go to Endochronologist tell him about the confusion and emotional roller coaster and inability to concentrate. He starts his spiel about Graves only affecting me physiologically.
Cannot get through to anyone the emotional states I go through. Sometimes I’m crying. then I feel rage.
Why is there no one willing to discuss the emotional side of this disease. Why all the denial. Doctor almost had me convinced it was me until I happened upon this support group.
Doctor doesn’t discuss role of hypothalamus and pituitary gland. TSH etc. assumes I cant comprehend. Anyone else get this response from doctors.
TSH level has not be within range. T3 and T4 almost in range. But if TSH levels not normal how can Thyroid be functioning correctly.
Have more questions. but will inquire another time. Just nice to know I’m not crazy because what’s happening to me

I am very lucky in that I have an Endo who is more than willing
to take the time to discuss the emotional side of this disease.
He knows we are on an emotional roller-coaster. He also under-
stands about the inability to concentrate…and the memory problems.
He even told me the first time I saw him that he would go over some
things may times because he knew I would not remember until my GD was
more under control. So there are Ednos out there who understand
that there is more to this desease than physiology and lab numbers.
I hope you can find one of these gems!
