As soon as all of us get over being on mountain time, and get some rest, and sort our thoughts, the bb will be hearing about the conference. Also, everything was video and audio taped, so those will be available as soon as possible–but no promises on the exact time. Generally, we got a lot of things we already knew reinforced and validated, some controversy regarding “cured” vs “managed” vs “healed”–maybe a LOT of controversy on that, but so what’s new about that? We have that discussion all the time. It was a wonderful experience of meeting other warriors, getting to know them as whole people rather than simply the appendage of an illness, and eating too much. Bausch and Lomb sponsored all the banquet, continental breakfasts, lunch and breaks, and made the entire event absolutely ELEGANT! Forrest, Jones Medical, Knoll, Porex (makers of synthetic bone) and even Frito-Lay got in the act and help with sponsorship–which was a real first. Everyone got a copy of the book YOUR THYROID: A HOME REFERENCE; the pharmaceutical companies had patient literature and some things like mugs and pens; B&L kept us supplied with eye drops and Duolube. Everyone had good ideas about what to try to include in the next conference, which will be in LOUISVILLE, KY – date will be either end of July or first of August — depending on the availability of facilities.

If you have any suggestions for speakers, let me know, so I can start working on it NOW!

I think my body is back on Eastern time now, so I will go crash. I don’t think I will be able to unpack the car for at least two days.

Morning warriors,

I was going through some of my notes this morning and came across a hand
out that we were given at the closing of the conference. I found it very
uplifting. You know Val and I and a few others are of Native American
descent and we talk of the Red Path that we must follow as warriors and
the circle of life. Both are very sacred to us as a guide on how to live,
love and help our fellow warriors in Graves. Well the words are to a song
by Barbara Streisand and is very well done. I have cut and pasted it so I
never know how it will look on the post so here goes:

THE CIRCLE

Some say… the walls between us stand too tall…
