I just got back on line, and couldn’t wait to go back and read what people wrote about the conference! It was, as always, worth all the planning and effort that went into it. It was probably the smallest number of people that we have ever had, but plane fares were horrendously high this year, and I think that was a factor. The advantage was that we all got to meet each other, and spend time getting to know each other on a much different level.
We weren’t able to tape all the presentations, ansd I regret that a lot. somehow we will have to get Jake on tape, and you really missed a treat if you didn’t get to hear Nimish Shah. Mark Wilner’s talk on computers was laughing–we could hear them through the walls while we were in the Pediatric session! We have never had a physical therapist before. We have had, however, yoga and tai chi.
I think people go there excpecting “information”, and leave with so much more.
We have been trying to have a three-day facilitator training workshop for ten years. We did manage to get a day and a h alf. I can’t impress on you how concerned and dedicated all these people behind the escenes are. What a wonderful bunch. I think we all got energy from each other–at least I did!~
I also read Jake’s post that reviewed my post last year abour BRT. I will be going to the International Meeting next week. I will again be asking for someone to write something for us. I’ll also get a chance to ask about the antioxidants for TED, and will be on the lookout for anything else that might be useful to us. This is the 7th year of this group. We all learn from each other. It is all patient thyroid groups, especially in Europe, but Japan, Russia, Australia as well as others that escape me mind for now. I’ll try to bring back a full report in a couple of weeks.
My own shameless plug: PLEASE join the NGDF. OUr lifeline is membership support, and that means YOU.
Yes, thanks Nancy!
I enjoyed the conference so much–the topics were so helpful. Especially I liked the comraderie and empathy of individuals for each other! I’ve been gone a lot since the conference and haven’t been on the BB, so I’m overdue with my love and appreciation for the conference and the wonderful people I met there. As Nancy says, please do support the NGDF by joining–we are all benefiting so much! -
