Just real simple. If you are currently hyperthyroid, you need to stay aay from cold meds as they are actually stimulants (the same type that are in the new weightloss OTCs) and you are already stimulated. Now, many side effects like racing heart beat and shaking come about in normal people too, but for someone who is hyperthyroid, it’s a bad idea to take any stimulant. Now, if you are currently in remission, or even hypothyroid, cold meds should be okay, AS FAR as your doctor tells you. The bottles say “thyroid disease” but if your read the FDA policy is specifically states overactive or hyperthyroid patients. Again, a good prodding at your doctor should get him to say the same thing.
      Good Luck!

I had RAI. I accidentally took a decongestant and felt like i was on speed, like I had way too much caffinee. My TSH levels have been weird. Don’t know if there is any connection.
