I just ran across this study relating high cholesterol to TED. They dont seem to know if high cholesterol actually causes the eye disease but wondering if the opposite is true and the Graves raises lipids. My LDL is high even though the eye disease has burned out; however, at the height of the hyperthyroidism right at Graves diagnosis, my cholesterol was low as it was the entire first year of the eye disease so I really do not see how that would fit the hypothesis. Here is the study anyway:

Interesting article. I remember that my cholesterol tested low when I was hyperthyroid, but after my Graves’ was well controlled it became high. I’m taking atorvastatin now and my latest tests (a couple of weeks ago) were actually good. The only thing that wasn’t in range was my HDL, and that was just one mg shy of normal. I only have very mild TED symptoms that seem to appear when I’m stressed or sleep deprived, and then they go away.
