I was wondering if anyone else can’t look up,as I can’t.Went to my Endrocrine doctor yesterday and he actually said it was because I won’t look up (he was mad because he couldn’t measure right)not because I can’t its because I won’t,but believe me folks he is dead wrong its because I can’t as I think it would make my eyes come out of there sockets again, plus went to my eye doctor in town today and he understood why I can’t look up,so that made me feel better. He measured my eyes and they measure 28mm for one eye and 26 for the other eye, which is alot better then before(they were both 29mm before)so does anyone here at the bb know does this mean ‘am going into remission? Or does this mean something else maybe that I’m not aware of yet? He’s not going to do anything untill I see the doctor in Toronto, which I can understand because after all he is the specialist up there,so I do feel alot better now that someone has seen me and not left me on my own, feels much better and not so alone with this wierd disease.Have a good night everyone,oh and I couldn’t be at the chat tonight as I had another engagement I had to keep,so maybe someone else could post if we missed anything of any inportance.Thank-you and good-night

I have a lot of trouble looking up (especially) and sideways too. For awhile, it got so bad I couldn’t drive very well – I had to just hope someone wasn’t in the other lane when I switched!

          Dear Lori
Yes that is exactly what I go through Lori, does it get any better as I have had to give up my car for now because of this, was just to afraid of not seeing a kid off to the side of me or something like that. Can you believe my Endro not believing me and cussing me out the way he did, you’d think he would know about these things wouldn’t you? Boy what bullshit us graves disease people are put through sometimes!!!
Also Lori I want to thank-you for posting me back that was nice to hear your not alone with this part of graves, the doctor had me coming home trying all evening to look up but there was no way I could, nice to hear its not all in my head—once again

I have not been able to “look up” for the last year.
The doctors at Mayo Clinic have indicated to me
that this is typical for people with Graves eye disease.

              Hi Barb,
Well, my eye muscles have gotten a little better after steroids and radiation treatments. I still can’t look too far up or sideways, but it’s a little better… Good luck! P.S. I just found this bulletin board yesterday and I’m so psyched. It’s good to know others have the same problems – every time I go to the opthomologist or endocrinologist, I look around for someone who looks like they might have graves, but so far I’ve never seen anyone.
              Take care!
