    Hi jeanette,

As far as I know, there is no restriction to taking ibuprofen (Motrin) at the same time you are taking Tapazole or Toprol. If you want a conclusive answer, call or go visit your pharmacist. This is truly their area of expertise, and they’re far more accessible than your doctor.

I am on methimazole and Toprol (beta blocker). I called my endo this morning and still haven’t gotten a call back. I have fever and really want to know if it is okay to take Motrin with my meds. I feel like it is okay, but just wondering if any of you have talked to your endos about it. I know you can’t give medical advice, just wondering what you experiences have been. Thanks!

DISCLAIMER: I am NOT a doctor.

    1. It sticks out to be that you are taking a beta blocker in conjunction with the methimazole. If your doctor was aware of this before he/she prescribed methimazole, you are okay. Otherwise, you may want to mention it to him/her.

    2. If you have a fever, call the doctor IMMEDIATELY. Other “red flag” side effects are sore throat, headache, chills, unusual bleeding, skin eruptions or jaundice. These CAN be an indication of immunity or liver problems that are associated with a small number of patients taking methimazole.
