    Hi, everyone!

I want to apologize for any hurt or angry feelings that I caused anyone
with my earlier post. I was truly being honest when I said that the
post was not directed at one person, but the BB in general. No finger-
pointing. I have had Graves’ Disease for over seven years, and know
first-hand what a lot of people are going through. I found this BB last
August (’96, mind you) when Jake had only 10 posts on the thing. I have
watched it grow into the mammoth support system that it is today, and have
made and continue to make new friends. We all have so much to offer
    each other!!

Throughout this year I have read *numerous* posts about supposed incompetent
doctors (and I have read all 10,000 plus messages on this board). These
posts send a message to me that there is something terribly wrong with our
health care system, and/or Graves’ Disease is not a clear-cut, diagnose-it-
cure-it illness. I would say it’s a little of both. So I state my point
one more time, in hopes that we can move on to helping the numerous newcomers
to our BB: Let’s try to work together as patients and health professionals
to find out all we can about Graves’. The keys have to be open and honest
communication between the team members (and YOU are a part of that health
care team), a willingness to work together, research, and taking some risks
both medically and emotionally. T.E.A.M. = Together Everyone Achieves More.

At teacher’s workshop today, we had two wonderful speakers remind us to
give affirmations to ourselves, each other, and our students on a daily basis.
In true GD spirit I cried through many of their touching stories that revealed
their theme of “life is too short not to have fun.” Their prescription was
three-a-day (affirmations) for our family, friends, co-workers, etc., and
one-a-week for our “buggers” or difficult people. Their advice included
taking your “meds” by giving and receiving these affirmations positively.

So, I’ll close with my three “meds” to you, my cyber-buds:
I appreciate the friendship and support that you give me.
You are a bunch of smart, capable people that have taught me a lot about
    Graves’ Disease and myself.
The helpful posts and info that you give to each other make me smile and
proud to be a part of this BB! :)

Wishing you all health and happiness, Debby
