    Hi, All,

Just thought I’d relate to you some info I just got. I changed endos
and have a very good first impression of my new one. She has decided
that I have been on a PTU dosage that has been too high for too long,
particularly since I had the I131 treatment almost 3 months ago. My
“old” endo continued the PTU at 2/3rds of the original dosage in spite
    of the I131 treatment.

Anyway, she has ordered a bone scan — something else to worry about.
She said that since I had a hysterectomy at such a young age, had
undiagnosed GD for probably a couple of years, and have been on high
dosages of PTU, I need to have a DEXA (bone scan) to evaluate the level
of bone density I have and to determine whether or not I need to take
another drug to rejuvenate the bones in order to prevent (or reduce)
the prospect of osteoporosis. Just thought I’d share with you ladies
this new info. Perhaps it’s not news to you, but it certainly was to
    me.

Also, is anyone having problems with tingling hands and arms while
trying to sleep? I’m beginning to think that I may be a hypochondriac.
I welcome comments from any and all.

Haven’t been contributing to the BB lately, but I’m here — reading all
your comments. Thanks for being there. You’re great.

Hi, Rosemary. When my “hyper” symptoms came back over the weekend, tingling arms and hands have been a constant companion. I’ve had this sensation before, too. As to “hypochondria”, I think that we all probably pay close attention to little details that we might just ignore if we weren’t otherwise ill. When I would wake up with the tingly hands before Graves, I just thought I’d slept in a funny position. Now, the question becomes “is it connected?” Who knows?

I hope the new endo is able to help you feel better quickly. Good luck.

Yes I had a lot of trouble with tingling hands while I was on PTU the first time. It onlu happened in the period 8-16 months. I was convinced my PTU dosage was too high but the doctor wouldn’t listen. My own doctor finally came back from maternity leave and immediately sent me to a specialist who took me off PTU. Guess what? The tingling diasappeared within 7 days. I am presently on low dosages of PTU following RAI and so far have not had this problem.
