Hi Jayne,
The best advice as a suggestion, is to make an appointment to have your eyes
checked out by an opthalmologist specializing in Graves’ disease. Have you had a baseline exam? If you have your ey doctor can do an examination and work with you for these new changes. Is the blurry vision
constant or does it come and go? Any changes in color?
Do things appear dimmer? Blurry vision can be a number of things and really does need to be looked at by a doctor.Dee
NGDF. Asst. online faciitatorAnyone ever have loss of vision from GD or can anyone share their symptoms of GED.
Thanks
KristinHi Kristin,
Start getting excited, I was going to wait awhile longer to be more sure.
On 3rd April I started taking twenty-five (25) grams of Vitamin C per day. From th very first day my eyes have been improving. I went shopping the other day, and didn’t have to mop tears once! !!!. I get it from GNC and take it in divided doses every few hour with a little food.
I’m not sure exactly what you mean by loss of vision, but yes, I lost vision in both eyes and especially in the left eye. Emergency decompression saved my sight. I still have double vision and have not had the lid surgery done as I really want my eyes to have a chance to regroup and rest. As far as my vision is concerned now, it is pretty good. I can read with no problem, but have trouble with trying to read music. Let your eye doc know immediately if there is a change in how they feel or how things look. It takes time, but the eyes do get better.
Of equal importance to taking 25 grams of Vit C daily may be protecting my eyes while I sleep. At the same time April 3 I started using an airline eyemask every night to protect my frog eyes from physical trauma. Before that I had been taking a prescription painkiller most mornings for previous month or so.
Linda.Has anyone else experienced blurry vision? I used to just have it in the morning for a couple of minutes all in one eye, but now I have gotten it in the daytime a couple of times, just the right side of my right eye.
SOund familiar?

Yes Michelle it sounds normal if you are actively hyperthyroid. I would get this blurry bright light. And it also affected my perrefrial (sp?) vision. Boy…I think I really spelled that wrong. Do not rub your eyes I was told that can make things worse. You need to have the Graves treated if you haven`t already. I am hypothyroid now after RAI and still have eyepain and headaches.
I woke up about a year ago in February and couldn’t hardly see – it came on me suddenly. I was fine the day before.
I went to see the opthalmologist and he referred me to a neuro-opthal. because they are very knowledgeable in thyroid eye disease. After some treatment, predisone and other radiation, in about six months my vision started returning. Perhaps you need to consult a neuro-opth. They are much more skilled at thyroid eye disease than the average opthalmologist. I’m sure you can get a referral. Please try this, it helped me so much.

Even tho I have 20/20 vision at times it is blurry. I am seeing a neuro op, and he tells me I have some proptosis Buldging mild, but the pressure i feel at times is due to the eye muscles swelling, and they are about twice the normal size. I am on my last week of prednisone, and hope the eyes don’t begin to swell again.
