I saw a doctor on Tuesday and was told I may have Graves’ Disease.
I had all the symptoms: trembling hands, goiters on both the right
and left side of my neck, weight loss, shortened menstrual cycle,
insomnia, heat intolerance, and tearing in my eyes. The doctor
prescribed BBlockers which have helped, but the palpitations
continue when I go the bed. I was informed today that I have
hyperthyroidism and will begin taking PTU 3X daily. I go to the
doctor next Tuesday to have blood drawn again. I’m not sure if
I have Graves or not. I scheduled myself to see both an opthomologist
and an endocrinologist after I left the doctor on Tuesday. I see
both in the next 10 days. I’m relieved I can read this bulletin
board to get comfort and hope from all of you.

WElcome Nancy…You’ve found a tremendous resource here if you do have Graves. Be sure to post the next lab results…TSH and T4 & T3 levels. You’ll know soon enough if this is GD. Expect next a nuclear scan of the thyroid which is painless, and then you’ll have your diagnosis. After you know, you can kick around treatment options here on the BB. Good luck!
