I also, had the R.A.I. and stayed away from my eight month old daughter. As far as my mother and husband, I kept a distance from them for about three days as well. But I still did not kiss my daughter for at least a week. That was the toughest part and staying away from her from this whole ordeal.

Kelly,
I got the same instruction — avoid contact with children —
but the radiologist told me not to be concerned about contact
with adults. The dosage you will receive is generally low
enough to pose no danger to adults. If your dosage level was
high enough to endanger adults, you would be hospitalized. So,
don’t worry about being around your mom. Good luck.

HI KELLY,

I HAD RAI DONE THE BEGINNING OF THIS MONTH. I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD TO
STAY AWAY FROM BABIES, SMALL CHILDREN AND PREGNANT WOMEN. THE DAY I
RECEIVED MY TREATMENT I WAS SITTING IN THE WAITING ROOM OF THE DOCTORS
OFFICE AND HAD TO BE MOVED INSIDE THE LAB BECAUSE I WAS EFFECTING THE TESTING
THAT WAS GOING ON ONE FLOOR ABOVE ME IN TEH BUILDING.

I WAS TOLD THAT THE RAI WOULD LEAVE MY BODY IN 3 DAYS. THEY TOLD ME THAT
I HAD TO KEEP MY ANIMALS AWAY FROM NEXT BECAUSE IT WAS HOT AND COULD EFFECT
ALSO.

I HAVE SINCE THEN HAD A LOT OF PEOPLE ASK ME IF THEY COULD SEE ME GLOW!!

HA, HA, HA! JEEZ. SUCH COMEDIANS!

Hi,
I’m going in for the RAI therapy on Tuesday. I’ve heard that I’m not supposed to be around children, especially infants for three days afterward. Does this apply to adults as well?? My mother will be in town and she thinks I’m trying to avoid her.
