Hey, so I was right! My astigmatism may have been caused by Graves’ Eye Disease. I had never had any vision problems until recently, and within a year the new astigmatism got much worse. I’ll have to apply the artificial tears even more often! Or maybe convince my opth. surgeon to do the lid surgery.

I am curious to know if it is possible to use contact lens “re-wetting” drops in lieu of artificial tears for dryness in the eyes?

I am about 5 months post-RAI and had just a little bit of dryness and blurry eyes for a couple of months, but I didn’t even have to quit using my contact lenses. I used my re-wet drops every so often while my eyes were dry, “sandy,” and blurry, and they did help. People keep talking about how expensive the artificial tears are (and how difficult to use less than one dose) and I was wondering if the substance is essentially the same. The re-wet drops don’t try to “get the red out” which was the first caveat I read about eye drops, and I was under the impression they were created to mimic tears.

Good health and happy times to all!
