Yes, there are only a few, old preparations, such as Armour thyroid and
thyrolar and they are getting very difficult to get. I have been on
Armour for several years now after finding synthroid, or levothyroxine,
only made my TSH test results look great and was doing nothing for my
    body.
Are you asking just for information, or are you finding synthroid
    ineffective?

I have heard of some people taking a combinaiton of T4 and T3,
especially women who are still menstrating. Is there anyone
out there who is doing this successfully? I appreciate any input
    on this….thanks….Carolyn

    Hi Joan! Hi Warriors!
I beleive that I am having problems matabolizing the
synthroid. I have had Graves since 1993. I had RAI
twice, yes twice. In theory, I have been stable for
over a year, but I still have hypo and hyper symptoms.
My doctor sent me to a psychiatrist, so I did the
antidepressent thing. Well, now I am a non-depressed
person with hypo and hyper symptoms. :-) Some friends
of my are taking the Armour T3 and having wonderful
results. My doctor does not want me to go on T3 alone,
so….I was thinking that maybe I needed both.

This is not unprecidented. I know with diabetics,
another autoimmune disorder, that there are several
types of insulin. Long acting, slow acting, and stuff
inbetween. It seems silly to me to expect every
patient to react favorably to the same exact medications,
    dosage levels aside.

I would appreciate any thoughts on this…thanks…Carolyn
