Don’t know the answer to your question, but perhaps you could call your local H & R Block. Sometimes, if it is a simple question like yours, they will answer it. Not always, but sometimes………

Good Morning,

Does anyone know if “over-the-counter” medications (such as eyedrops,
artificial tears,etc. with receipts) if they are prescribed by your
doctor are tax deductible medical expenses? I called the toll free number yesterday for the IRS and
know one seemed to be able to answer this simple question.(after being on hold for
20 minutes) Any information is greatly appreciated.
