Was diagnosed with GD 9/96. So I’ve had the iodine uptake procedure
and have been taking PTH for 3 months. The most disturbing symptoms
left quickly after taking PTH and a beta blocker for the rapid heart.
Now I feel swollen all over, as if I’m retaining too much fluid in
the tissues. Eyes are swollen, sometimes dry, sometimes “drippy.”

I just hesitate to “throw the baby out with the bath water” as they
say. It seems unreasonable to discard the thyroid gland because some-
things like misguided antibodies are present. Just seems to me that
medical science should know how to redirect the antibodies before
resorting to removal or destruction of the thyroid gland, which is not
a minor actor within our bodies.
