My first endocrinologist basically told me I had Graves’ disease and hypothyroidism and that was it. I had absolutely no idea what it meant for my future. He did try meds, and I was allergic to all. Finally switched docs and had surgery. Now my thyroid is under control but I’m still having trouble understanding Graves’ because I thought getting my thyroid removed would end it. I was wrong. Docs need some kind of comprehensive, information booklet to give people when diagnosed with Graves’. Like they do if you are diagnosed with things like Diabetes.
