If one who has been treated for Graves Becomes pregnant, the doctors
should monitor the TSH levels every trimester. If a pt. is on Synthroid
she will probably have to have the dosage increased sometime during
the pregnancy since being pregnant increases ones’ metabolic demands.
Hypoactive women who are not treated risk a higher chance of miscarriage.
Hyperactive women who are not treated run a risk of premature births
and post-partum hemorrage, and of course all the other unpleasant
symptoms of hyperthyroidism.
