in reply to: Graves Disease and Radioactive Iodine Treatment #1185724
That’s Great Samantha. Good Luck with school!
in reply to: New TED diagnosis #1185891Are they treating your thyroid? TED doesn’t just happen by itself. It’s usually related to issues such as Graves Disease. I had this many years ago. Usually the eyes go back to “normal” after treatment. Mine did not. Unfortunately. I don’t have double vision or anything just sensitivity to bright lights, dry eyes and one eye a little out further than the other.
in reply to: Tsh .06 anyone else have this with normal T4 #1185827Sounds like you’re experiencing auto-immune issues which is what Hashimoto is. I would recommend you see a GOOD Endocrinologist and have them run a blood panel on your thyroid. T3, T4, Free T3 Free T4, TSH and possibly others. You are having symptoms for sure. Personally, as far as vaccines go, avoid them as they may be interfering with your bodies own immune system. That is simply my opinion.
in reply to: Dealing With Depression After Thyroidectomy #1185820My own personal opinion based on my own experience is that you may be reacting to the Levothyroxine. I was on Armour for 30 plus years and felt great until they reformulated the product. My numbers started going crazy so the doctor put me on Levothyroxine. While it did stabilize my numbers, I never felt quite well or right on the medication. I’m now on a medication made by a compounding pharmacy called Nature-throid which is on prescription. I feel SO much Better after 6 weeks. I know there are many people on Synthroid or Levothyroxine that are fine but there are many people who don’t feel well on it. As far as the depression, often times it is the thyroid issues that contribute to that from what my Endocrinologist once told me. I think if you get on the right medication, you may start to feel better. Hope this helps. It is not in your mind psychologically; it is actually physiological.
in reply to: Ref: Graves eye disease light sensitivity #1185832Well your issue reaffirms my light sensitivity that I’ve had for many, many years. I’ve suffered from Grave’s eye disease for over 30 years. All I can tell you is to avoid bright light as much as possible. Definately wear a hat or visor outside with Polaroid sunglasses to protect your eyes and eye drops; the kind without antibiotics or preservatives in them.
in reply to: Muscle spasms with Graves Disease #1185807When I was dealing with Graves disease (hyperthyroid) at the age of 12, I had severe muscle spasms at night. After they killed my thyroid with a radiation drink, and put me on Armour thyroid, the spasms went away. I hope this helps you. The spasms have everything to do with your thyroid being out of wack. Once they restore the problem, they should go away. Make sure you are getting enough minerals. I ate lots of fruits and vegetables and really cleaned up my diet after going thru this. That is an important part of your recovery.
in reply to: Graves Disease and Radioactive Iodine Treatment #1185721Thanks for your reply. My doctor did switch me over approx 5 days ago. One of the things I found in researching Levothyroxin and Armour are that both use a cornstarch filler whereas the Naturesthroid does not and is the best hypoallergenic option. Graves Disease is associated with an autoimmune issue so hopefully this does the trick. I don’t like to play around with my thyroid after going thru what I did so many years ago. I am currently looking for an Endocrinologist that has extensive knowledge and interest. My old doctor has long ago retired and I miss his brilliance.
in reply to: Graves Disease and Radioactive Iodine Treatment #1185719Diagnosed at the age of 12 (39yrs ago) with Graves Disease and subsequently Graves Eye disease. I was given radiation to drink twice as the first dose did not work. After the successful treatment of this goiter, I was put on Armour thyroid. My levels were normal for approx 34 years until Armour changed the fillers in their product and I started having issues. My current doctor put me on Levothyroxin and it did normalize my levels for a year or so but now my TSH has dropped to 0.05 and I don’t feel well. My daughter has suggested a thyroid medicine made at a pharmacy that makes compound formulas. It’s called Naturesthroid. Any suggestions as to what might be going on with me after all these years. Using this compound formula? Possibly low dose iodine treatments?
