Hi, I really just wanted to send you some sympathy :-)

I had my thyroid treated with RAI after I became hyper, and now take levothyroxine too. Like you, my TSH is very low, while my TS3 & TS4 are ‘normal’. I too feel many of the symptons you have written about, weight again, feeling slow, constipation, and I don’t have very much faith in my blood tests, I am not sure whether I am actually hyper or hypo.

Good luck to you. I hope you get on really well and I am interested to hear how things are for you.

Thank you for your reply, Bobbi. Its actually some years since I had the RAI, and its only recently I have started to fight back a bit and really push for some help.

I feel if I don’t get myself sorted out now, then it might never happen. I also feel as if I am clutching at straws :-)

I am sorry so many people are feeling this way, reading other threads has helped me understand its really not that simple.

    Thanks again x

I just want to say ‘Hi!’ :). I am also in the UK and feel that something is not right. I had Graves Disease confirmed years ago, and had RAI for a very overactive thyroid, my symptons were similar to those you describe. I did feel very well for a while afterwards. The problem with me, I feel, is that other life issues get in the way, and you cope because you have to, plus menopause, I don’t know where I am so not sure why anyone else should either.

I just feel so tired all the time! Itchy shins, and eyelids, hot flushes, feeling cold, fogginess etc. I have had tests, and although I am still waiting for the results of an antibody test, am told everything else is normal.

I am thinking of contacting an endocrinologist direct, by passing the GP, not sure how that will go down, as you will understand its usual to go through the GP over here. Also, I feel a bit foolish, my GP said on last visit that I have mild depression and will feel better when the sun shines! I cried when I left the surgery! So maybe he is right with that!

I too find the test results confusing, despite the kindness of so many people trying to explain them, the info just doesn’t stay with me. I understand the TSH but that’s about it. I need one of those Dummy Guides, I wonder if there is one to Graves Disease :)

Sorry to take over your thread, I really just wanted to let you know you are not alone :)

Thank you once again for your support. I am so pleased to have found a forum for Graves Disease. I am in the UK, but have not found a support forum based here for Graves.

I have been to my GP, and have requested that I be referred to an endocrinologist, the same one I saw several years ago before I had RAI. My GP arranged for blood tests and, wouldn’t you guess, my thyroid levels are still in the normal range. Other tests were negative.

I am still waiting for the results of an antibody blood test. Do you know why I would be given this blood test? it is already confirmed that I have Graves Disease.

My shins are still itchy, and my upper eyelids are feeling quite sore, flaky, puffy again this morning. I often feel short of breath, and foggy. Does this make sense to anyone?

It seems my request to be referred to the endo has been shelved. My GP suggests I have mild depression and will feel better when the sun shines.

Any advice would be appreciated. I really don’t want to be seen as a hypochondriac, or waste my GP’s time.

    Thanks in advance. x

Thanks for your reply, its good to have something to focus on and I will request copies of my records from the GP.

I am in the UK, and I am sure I can get to see an endocrinologist. I have seen one before I had the RAI, but not since. I need to get myself in gear.

Thanks again, its good to somewhere to share.
