I had to come back to give a update post RAI 5 weeks. The first two days after were my worst. Heart palpitations started back up again. After those two days, it has been relatively smooth. I don’t feel quite normal but I sure feel a heck of a lot better than the hyper state. I’ve gained back 16 pounds of the 30 pounds I lost and I’ve even played a few rounds of golf. I didn’t get a sore throat, I didn’t have fatigue too bad and I didn’t sleep all the time. I must say, I am sleeping much better. I took my second blood test yesterday and I am waiting on the labs to come back. The doctor said if I didn’t crash by now, chances are I won’t crash! Good news! As of today, I’m just waiting for the day to start my thyroid hormone pills. I hope this helps someone who is contemplating RAI. I know I read and read all the negative comments on the internet but thanks to the administrators on this site, I decided to go ahead and get the pill. Thank you guys for your knowledge and support. I know we didn’t talk much but I think I read several post on this site and you were the deciding factor!

I think I can weather this storm. Although I must say, the atrial fibrillation has come back with vengeance. More than anything at this point I really appreciate the valuable information and support I’m receiving from this site. Thank you all!

Thank you PattiMeg! I’m going to do my best not to panic. You have provided very positive feedback for me. I was very active before GD took over. I lost 30lbs of muscle mass. Your encouraging words have given me something to look forward too. Back to the gym, golfing and coaching kids. Thank you so much!

Thanks Bobbi for the quick reply. Actually they told me I would be experiencing more symptoms but I was not expecting them within three days of the treatment. So I was a little off guard. I guess I’d better buckle my seat belt! You say this phase my last about a week? I’m curious to know what to expect following this phase.

Thanks for the timely response. I am on Methimazole and my heart palps have increased tremdously. Not good! I’m on Metoprolol and Rythmol. Over drugged maybe. I understand that this can be a slow process, but with all the symptoms I’m experiencing, something has to give. The doctor didn’t explain the treatments to me. I’ve researched extensively and I’ve educated myself on my options. I’m sure many of us with Graves have researched the options. For my own personal knowledge, I would love to hear some positive comments about RAI. Every treatment has it’s side effects, but I want to hear all those positive comments about RAI.

Hello everyone! I never would have imagined being diagnosed with Graves, but anything is possible. I’m fairly new to this, diagnosed three weeks ago. You would think Endos would move a little quicker with the help! I just received my script for Methimazole 10mg only to take the second pill and bam heart palpitations. I’ve only been on Methimazole two days, but the other drugs…..Metoprolol 100mg per day! I’m scaling this one back! Rythmol 225mg for heart palpitations and it’s starting to slowly fail me. I’ve lost 25lbs in three months. I’m tired! How about RAI?? So many negative stories, but it beats taking all the other meds to fight this! Please give me your honest thougts on RAI TREATMENT!
