    Hi!

I seemed to have found a good endo, since she felt that if your cortisol is off that your thyroid meds wouldn’t be able to be absorbed and in essence be intolerable.

She tested my cortisol and it turned out to be normal. There is alot of information about adrenal insufficiency if you look up dessicated natural thyroid. Also stop the madness.

Since I was having such a hard time with the Levo I was doing a lot of research on the dessicated thyroid hormone, to see if it would be an alternative …
It turns out I’m doing quite well on Tirosint, the levo had lactose in it as a filler, and I’m lactose intolerant….

    Thanks for your post!

This is very interesting seeing that endocrine disrupters have been all over the news lately.

I just wonder how long it takes for our government to figure out how to protect its people, instead of just pumping out chemicals into our homes, that are most likely safe, or safe in small doses?

This whole subject is very frustrating to me. I’ve started replacing all my plastics in my house with glass….

Yeah these plastics are Safe alright…

    Sue,

I opted for RAI. but my story is a little different. My endo never told me I had graves. I just thought I was hyper. I never knew most people consider it one and the same.

I did my research, but every time I came accross something that said graves, I just said oh that’s not me, I’m just hyper.

So I chose RAI not knowing it could cause eye issues. I just recently started having eye issues. Somewhere around January. Saw an opthomologist in march and he didn’t seem to concerned with TED, told me I had dry eyes and gave me some eye drops.

If I had it to do over? Well first off I would have chosen a better endo. But secondly I think I would have at least tried the ATDs. And my second choice would be surgery. I mean why subject yourself to eye issues when you know that RAI gives you a higher chance of getting it.? I think there are some people who also say if you don’t have your thyroid, the antibodies will start to attack your eyes anyway. Idk how true that is, but I guess it’s worth looking into as well.

Maybe some people are just going to get TED no matter what. Who knows.

That’s just my 2 cents for whatever its worth. Good luck and let us know what you decide!,

    Hi!!

    You are not alone!!

I too gained weight when hyper. I was eating so much cuz I was hungry ALL the time!!

I started running and watching everything I put in my mouth and eventually I did lose some weight that I put back on when I went hypo after RAI.

You can always come here for answers. Someone is always here to help!

    Big hugs!

    Harpy,

You almost had me in tears.

I’ve been trying lately to live in the moment.

This is all we have. Right here. Right now. Live it. Love it. Try not to dwell on what might have been, what might be.

    Just be here.

Everyone around you will thank you for it.

Much love vanillasky. I hope everything goes well for you. Keep positive and focus on today. This moment in time.

Just after getting my RAI done, i went to get a pedicure. The nail tech noticed my calves twitching uncontrollably. I Bent over to grab my calves to stop them from shaking, and the tech looked up at me and says you get the shakes huh?
    I said yeah sometimes…

    Lmao.

I’m not a big fish person and only occasionally eat tuna. So naturally I stay away from those items.

I think people with their thyroid a should stay away from high iodine foods?

Do you think it is the same for people who had RAI or TT.?

    Hi

I’m glad you’re going to get a second opinion. It never hurts to get a different perspective from another doc.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!!
