    Hey-

I had the RAI done in sept 12. So I’ve not been HyperT since about October. Odd thing is I never had anxiety while being hyper. Even when I was extremely hypo. I started synthroid sometime the end of Novmber. I started having anxiety mid January. EXTREME anxiety, can’t get out of bed kind.

I’ve had one anxiety episode before this and that was 10 years ago.

I’ve never been an anxiety kind of gal.

I’ve heard a tale that once you get your levels within the normal range all this should dissipate. I don’t know if I believe that. I feel it’s (just my humble opinion here) these synthetic hormones wreaking havoc on my body. Why didn’t I have anxiety when my TSH was 48? Or when it was <.001? Only once I was on synthroid for 6 weeks did this really kick in to high gear. I am now on Tirosint. The anxiety has dissipated some. But when it’s that time of the month I feel it flare once again. Hormones again. I have no clue what the answer is. I’m just a regular person, trying to get back to my regular life…. Diane.

I agree as well. I have not felt well cognitively in about 6 months. I work full time and just simple things like words don’t come like they used to. I feel as though I walk around in a fog and one day it’s going to clear and I’m going to say oh! There I am! Hope. Is the key word. I’m hopeful.

My levels are within normal range, though I have yet to reach this magical sweet spot. Again i am hoping with my next med dosage increase I will be there or really close to it.

So until that happens I spend a lot of my time at work checking and rechecking my work to try and prevent mistakes. And trying hard to do word puzzles and brain games to help my brain in any way I can.

I’m here if anyone wants to talk on this subject or anything for that matter. Pm me.

    Hi!

Tirosint is yes like synthroid, but has basically no fillers. Something I think I was having an issue with. It’s just glycerin water and thyroid hormone.

It’s something to think about if you don’t do we’ll on synthroid or generic.

    Good luck!

in reply to: Gaining weight? #1177405

    Hi steph!

I also gained weight being hyper! About 10 lbs. I ate constantly because I was constantly hungry!

Once I became hypo I did gain more weight. About another 10 lbs. I’m hoping once the thyroid levels get back in the normal range the weight will come off pretty easily. (Praying).

    Good luck to you!

    Thanks Kimberley.

So hopefully if I can get my thyroid numbers within the normal range this anxiety will go away…

Thank you for letting me vent here, I’m getting a little frustrated with how
Long it’s taking to feel myself again. Do we ever feel like ourselves again?

I’m going to call my endo tomorrow and see if I can get my appt pushed up a couple weeks..

    Thanks again!

I think if you explain the situation to your doc, just as you did here, he should write one for you. I’m sure it wouldn’t hurt to call and ask anyway.

    Hi!

I have been reading a lot about Armour thyroid and I have heard a lot of good things about it.

I don’t know anyone personally on it, but I still feel like if the Tirosint I’m on right now doesn’t work out, I will try the armour.

Good luck on your journey to GREAT health.

    :)

    Judy, you are not crazy.

From the moment I started the Levo I knew something was wrong.

If you feel that horrible, I would continue to look for a new doctor until you find one that will listen to you. No one should have to go through life feeling horrible. And if thus new dr didn’t listen to me that is exactly what I would have done, until there were no more endo drs fir me to see.

Have your drs tried anything else at all? Checked your cortisol levels? Vit d and b12?

Btw what are your numbers? Tsh t4 & t3?

I hope you get some relief soon.

I am not a dr but just trying to understand this whole process and be my Ian advocate so that I get the best possible care and just feel good in general.

    Hi!

Just got back from seeing my new Endo, my appt got pushed up due to a cancellation. Yay me!

Anyhow she was great! She changed my prescription to Tirosint. And listened to all my concerns and seemed very knowledgable. I’m very happy! Although with all my notes and questions written down, I forgot to tell her about my heart palpitations when I drink alcohol! Ugh. Frustrating that I have this horrible memory!!

So she’s checking my cortisol levels as well due to my low blood pressure and nausea. So now I just get my blood work in about 4 weeks, and see her again in 6.

Hopefully the pharmacy will have my script ready tomorrow and I will be on my way to feeling much much better.

Thank you all for your support and help

    Hi!

Yes I had muscle cramps all over! I would turn or move and bam! Spasm in my muscle!

It was in the time after I had my Rai treatment and just starting on levothyroxine.

    Hi Alexis,

Thank you for your reply. Yes i am on Levo still. Hoping to be able to pick up my prescription for synthroid tomorrow. I am still having horrible anxiety nausea heart palpitations, shaking. I feel hyper. It seems to get worse around my menses which is right now and i feel like i want to jump off a bridge.

    My last labs were this:

    TSH 3.35 (.4-4.5)
    T4 free 1.8 (.8-1.8)
    T3 free 3.0 (2.3-4.2)

So my tsh is a little on the high normal but my big question is why is the T4 on the high end? Is this why i feel hyper? T 3 is almost in the middle and almost perfect.

I just want to feel well. Dont know how much longer I can go on like this. I may go get my bloodwork again tomorrow and let my old Endo take a look at it, since technically im still under his care.

Thank you so much for any help you can provide.

I too have been anxious and just generally not feeling well since I started taking levothyroxine.

When I was hyper I felt pretty good. No anxiety, I was training for my first 5k. My symptoms were heat intolerance, rapid heart rate, shaking. But other than that I felt pretty good especially since my TSH was off the charts. Had the RAI done and still felt pretty good until I went very badly hypo. (48 TSH). Since the first week of starting levo, ( the first week I felt pretty good, brain fog felt improved), I started just feeling weird. Nausea, crying fits. Now I must tell you that my father was seriously ill in the hospital at the time, and my not feeling well, was chalked up to stress in my mind. Never associated it with the levo.

After being on levo for around a month to 6 weeks got my blood work done and dr upped dosage too 100mcg. Before even taking the first dose that next morning, I woke up in a severe state of panic, dry heaving when I tried to brush my teeth. Waited a day and called my endo to switch my meds and he convinced me to stay on. He said give it a week and see if it normalizes.
I began taking a natural anxiety med and that is the only thing that keeps me sane these days. And yes right before my menses starts it is so much worse.

I don’t believe we have to live like this. I had my pcp prescribe brand synthroid for me but I can’t fill it until the 11th due to my insurance. Ugh. I wish my dr would have explained to me what a long hard process this is and it’s SO not something that is simple like I thought.

Have you tried a different brand med?

Just wanted to checking and let you all know that my appt went great!! The doctor sees no signs of Ted as of yet. He did give me some dry eye drops that apparently I am allergic too!! Lucky me!! So now my eyes are all red and swollen!!

Anyway he was very nice and seemed very knowledgeable on teds and Graves’ disease. He says he does see his fair share of teds patients. So now I only have to go back to see him if I see or feel any changes otherwise not until next year!! I was do happy I was ready to burst into tears!! But I held it in until I got to my car! Lol

So good news so far! Thanks for all your comments and help! I really appreciate it!

    Thanks for all your responses!!

I know for the past couple years that wine would affect me like that. I was just diagnosed in August and wonder if I had been slowly going hyper for the last couple years and that’s why I got heart palpitations.

So I don’t go to see my endo until April and I’m making quite a list of questions to ask.

I will let you all know what I find out!!

    Thanks !

    Diane
