So the first one was a test for hashi, and the second a test for graves?

    Hi mom,

Just wondering if your body just got used to being stressed all the time and when you finally got back to a normal state that’s when your body reacted…

I’ve read many an article about graves and other auto immune diseases. Seems we are prone to specific ones. Rheumatoid arthritis and celiac to name a few.

Autoimmune diseases run in my family. My gram had a goiter and my mom had lupus and was hypo. My sister has hashimotos disease and my other sister is hypo but not sure if its hashi’s or not. Both of my nieces have celiac.

I’ve read that you should try to remove all toxic cleaners from your home, eat WHOLE clean foods, exercise, keep away from sweets and saturated fats as well as tying to reduce your stress levels.

I’m trying to do them all, but its quite a challenge with a 15 year old that hates veggies, and a 20 year old that is trying to make me go physically insane!

    Lol.

Anyway. Just my take on the sitch.

    Hi

Thanks for posting this great info!

Would this be beneficial for people who still have a functioning thyroid only? Or would it help people who have have a TT or RAI?

    Thank you!

@Kimberly, if you have ever seen the VH1 show, “Mob Wives,” Karen Gravano is on there and does not speak of her father’s illness.

However, when I read the book, it was very sad that he has gotten so ill with Graves’. She writes he does not look like the same person. He had lost most of his hair, so shaved the rest off. Also had a problem with parathyroids and lost his calcium. His teeth are very bad and has lost most of them. He is very thin now and wears glasses all the time.

When she took her daughter, Karina, to see her grandfather, she said: “Grandpa looks like Elmer Fudd.” If you google his name, you might be able to view some photos of him now.

I’m wondering if he had the RAI treatment? Could be the parathyroid and salivary glands were affected …

    So sad.

Just wondering why no one here talks about cancer related to RAI? Or salivary and lacrimal gland dysfunction among other things.

What is salivary and lacrimal gland dysfunction? I’ve never read or heard anything about this before…

I have two dogs. A chocolate lab that we bought, and a pit bull that we rescued. Their names are Darla and Stymie. They are my two loves ( second only to my son & daughter :)

I also had two turtles as a child. I don’t remember them too much but my dad used to tell me we took them in the yard for some fresh air and they were never seen again! Lol maybe they went for a walk…

I was told to just avoid salt and salty foods for a few days before.

I had the uptake scan done in August.

I’m so sorry you’re not feeling well. I have anxiety that comes on for no reason. I am not hyper anymore. Just anxious.

Try to do something that you enjoy today that will relax you. I just recently bought a yoga DVD and have been trying to work it into my routine.

I hope you feel better soon.

    Big hugs.

    Hi Carrie!!

I am on my second endo, and while I think she is pretty good, I have my doubts. (Probably just paranoid at this point) I don’t go back to see her until the end of this month so we will see.

Please let me know how your dr appt goes today. I was reading one of your other posts and I too had just recently starting doing for myself. Exercising and generally trying to be healthier when this disease really hit me.

    Good luck today!

    Hi

I was just thinking today if I should have my TSI tested. I know many people here don’t see a point, but if the TSI is high its an indicator that graves is still active correct? And can still cause TED?

I’ve heard of some people going on a low dose of ATDs to reduce their TSI levels and try to prevent TED or even reduce symptoms of TED.

    Anyone know anything about this?

Just one thing I’ve been curious about.

    Di
