in reply to: A Cyclist’s Two Days until TT #1179321
Hope your recovery is as easy as mine was. Still working on getting my meds settled, but that is a different post.
in reply to: Endo Appointment – surgery is now on the table #1179369Sue, I never did a mush diet following my TT. Went straight to real food, though I did need cepacol for two days.
in reply to: Wish me luck-surgery Friday! #1179070Very much hope that your surgery goes well. Let your husband and mother duke it out while you are “under.” Take care of yourself first; the rest will fall into place. Or it won’t, but you will be well.
*susan*in reply to: Made decision for surgery #1178453Connie,
No. I didn’t do RAI before surgery. For lots of reasons, RAI wasn’t a good option for me so I dove into surgery after I had a bad reaction to the Tapizole.
Not unexpected, but still annoying— I have put on 5 lbs in the last three weeks. I am sleeping a lot and always feel a bit groggy. My brain feels like it is always swimming through molasses. Will get blood drawn on Thursday and then a follow up with the Endo a week later. I really hope that my levels indicate hypo so I don’t have to fight for a bit more synthroid. But I am not going to borrow trouble, just yet.
in reply to: Made decision for surgery #1178449Sounds like they are doing all the right things. I didn’t have that ultrasound, but everything else mirrors my experience. I was also told to bring a button up top so that I didn’t have to put something over my head post-surgery.
Will look for your updates.in reply to: Well, here goes! #1173611My goodness, you are bouncing around rapidly! Can’t imagine the second job while your levels are moving so quickly, but I suspect given your goal, you will make it work. Almost time for me to update my TT entries, but overall, it hasn’t been that difficult.
Now at week 4 post-surgery. First the surgery stuff. The incision is mostly healed. The skin that was under the steri-strips is still a bit puffy and a bit redder than the skin just outside that area.
At the hospital, they prescribed 100 mg of generic levothryoxine, but that was changed to name-brand Synthroid at my first Endo follow up. At two weeks, they felt that it was too early to adjust the meds. I believe that my body is heading towards hypo about now. I feel cold from the bones out, and my hands and feet just can’t get warm at all. My fatigue level is high. After sleeping a good 9 hrs at night, I want a nap before lunch. Real life doesn’t allow for that, so I am pushing through. I have put on 4 lbs in the past 5 days.
My next set of blood work isn’t for another two weeks so nothing can be confirmed until then but I fully expect that my Synthroid dose will be increased at that appointment.

in reply to: Never Rains, but it pours! #1178510p.s. Not trying to minimize your concerns, just letting you know that sometimes weird and unexpected bleeding is deemed ‘insignificant.’ Really, really hoping that your gets put in that category. One of my favorite medical terms is unremarkable.
in reply to: Never Rains, but it pours! #1178509Happened to me a long time ago [long story.] They did a simple vaginal ultrasound, shook their heads, and said if it happens again, call us. Never happened again. It might just be one of those things… certainly, that is what I will hope for.
*susan*in reply to: Started my RAI today. #1178493Wishing the best for you.
in reply to: Finally Diagnosed with Graves’ Disease #1178477Endo #2 said almost the exact same thing to me. And she almost seemed gleeful. And that is one of the many reasons I am now seeing Endo #3.
That said, loosing and keeping off weight has always been very hard for me. Post thyroidectomy, I am weighing myself daily so that the pounds don’t slip on without my notice.
Ignore the nasty people on the peripheral of your life if you can.
in reply to: Thyroid Regeneration #1178368This talk of thyroid growth is making me anxious. I hope that my thyroid has the good sense to stay gone. I am not interested in a second Act.
in reply to: Made decision for surgery #1178444My only issue for eating after the surgery was that the hospital kitchen was closed. I did not miss a beat with the whole food thing. I did discover that I gulp water and had to slow down to sips. I was prepared for sleeping more upright, but also found that this was not required.
Chances are, you will somewhere in the middle between adenture and me.

in reply to: Made decision for surgery #1178436Amy,
My best hope is that your surgery is as straight forward as mine. It isn’t an easy decision, but once it is made, somehow the pieces seem to fall into place.
