in reply to: Post RAI and hypo #1177196
Thanks for the info, it makes me feel better I’ve only been on levothyroxine for a couple weeks and I usually get the cramps when I’m in bed. I will definitely mention it to the doctor the next time I see him. Thank you for replying sometimes I feel like I’m losing my marbles
in reply to: Painful Sex #1176860I definitely agree with Kimberly to make sure your labs are normal. I had this same issue and had biopsies and all sorts of labs done but never a diagnosis, after I got my thyroid levels in order things have improved. Sorry you are going through this.
in reply to: Going to get RAI in a few minutes #1175996MLK, my Graves’ was also mild I went into remission for two years after taking methimazole for about 6 months but when I relapsed I went to two different endos that would not put me back on ATD’s so I went ahead and did RAI, if you find a good endo they will check on you frequently post RAI to catch you before going hypo. My endo has done this for me, I know it has theres a potential to have a few kinks in finding the right amount of synthroid, I feel like the benefits in the way I feel, think, heck my whole life has been returned to me, those benefits are just too good, I still don’t regret it. I’m no doctor, I’m not trying to sway you either way, I’m just sharing my experience. If you have any questions feel free to PM me or ask here. I know it was hard to find positive accounts of people’s experiences with RAI, especially online.
in reply to: Going to get RAI in a few minutes #1175994You’re right it is .70 I was excited. Thanks again!
in reply to: Going to get RAI in a few minutes #1175991Woohoo! I just received my 6-week Post RAI labs….drumroll
Total T4: 4.5. (4-11)
TSH: .89. (.500-4.5)
Free T4: .07. (.8-1.5)So my endo has put me on 50mcg 1 pill in morning on an empty stomach.
I feel pretty fabulous and I’m glad I didn’t go hypo before getting put on meds.
I still have no regrets, I’ve been able to start exercise again which has been great for stress relief. I’m just worried about going hypo but for now I will enjoy the normalcy. Thanks to all of you on here, this has been an incredible and supportive forum to be a part of. Hugs!
in reply to: Going to get RAI in a few minutes #1175990Thanks for the tip, I was kind of thinking of calling because my throat/neck has been more sore than anytime previously. I will keep you all posted.
I really do believe there is a link between the sinus infections and Graves. Of course I’m no doctor but here is my story. Prior to my diagnoses and treatment of Graves I had a sinus infection every month for about a year, I do no exaggerate, my primary care doctor sent me to an ENT and I had sinus surgery. A few months later I got my diagnoses of Graves and my endo told me that the two were related. I’ve since changed endos and the new one told me the same thing. I do not have TED but my eyes do feel like they hurt and are about to explode, like they are being inflated or something weird. Since being treated for Graves over the last two years I’ve only had 2 sinus infections.
in reply to: Going to get RAI in a few minutes #1175988I’m 3 weeks post RAI, I’ve had more good days than bad days and I will be going to the doctor in another 3 weeks to get labs done. Today is pretty bad, my whole body feels like I was beat with a rolling pin last night. As bad as it may be I feel like we are all troopers for getting out of bed and dragging our butts to work even when we feel bad. I just can’t believe I lived like that for so long! I’m trying to plan a wedding, which is stressful but feeling great is a wonderful, wonderful thing.
in reply to: Going to get RAI in a few minutes #1175985Day 12:
Thanks, for the reply. I’ve had a few great days that made me realize just how bad I felt all the time. I’ve also had a few bad days that remind me how much Graves sucks. But I’m so thankful I’m on the road to feeling better. Oddly enough the last few days my thyroid has been very sore so I’m expecting to be a bit more symptomatic the next few days. All in all I’m still happy I did the RAI.
Happy New Year to you all!
in reply to: Going to get RAI in a few minutes #1175983Day 7 Post RAI:
I hope you guys had a great Christmas! I’ve had a little bit of nausea lingering and the neck soreness but I’m happy to report no more anxiety or palpitations. It may be too early to say but I feel very relaxed and not so much like I’m racing around everywhere, could this be the new “normal”?I’m kinda just waiting for the other shoe to drop because I’ve heard that at about two weeks post RAI is when you really feel bad, what have your experiences been?
in reply to: Going to get RAI in a few minutes #1175982Thanks for telling me about atenolol I will ask on Wednesday. Thanks for the bit about windex too. I’m very sore in the neck today, I wrapped some presents but I just feel wiped out. Thanks for all the great info. Thankfully the anxiety comes on in waves and I just have to wait it out, I’ve been calling my mom she’s good at talking and taking my mind off of things.
I’m keeping my chin up, it’s just gotta get better. Thank you guys again.
in reply to: Going to get RAI in a few minutes #1175979I’ll be locked up til tomorrow thankfully, I’m a little peeved that my doctor didnt mention anything about anxiety and palpitations and I can’t call their office until Wednesday, he’s on vacay for the next 2 weeks anyway.
My anxiety is pretty bad right now but at least I know what it’s from and I will just have to ride it out. Eek. Thanks again for your support. My neck is pretty sore so I guess that means its working.
in reply to: Going to get RAI in a few minutes #1175977I have a prescription for propranolo, however I just can’t tolerate it. I’ve quartered the pill and it still makes me feel very faint. I’m just trying to take it easy.
Thank you all for your replies, it’s nice to know I’m not alone and you all understand what I’m going through. My fiancé has been wonderful to me while I’ve been holed up in the guest bedroom, I’m thankful for him and all of you.
in reply to: Going to get RAI in a few minutes #1175975Day 3:
The sweaty hands and feet have subsided, I woke up in the wee hours with a racing heart, anxiety and sweating. I was up for an hour then finally went back to sleep. I definitely don’t feel like eating because of the nausea I have but I force myself to choke something down. Otherwise I feel ok. We shall see what happens next.in reply to: symptoms all over the place #1173947I agree with Kimberly, my labs were at the high end of normal for T3 & T4 and the low range for TSH. I started keeping a journal of my symptoms and how I felt when I’d get labs drawn that way I could go back and match them to the lab results, it helped me and my endo immensely. Hope you feel better soon.
