I would like to know about the resolution of TED. Once thyroid has been stable and antibodies have returned to normal (none) does the tissue around eye- between eyelid and brow bone and under eye bagginess – ever revert to the way it was pre TED or is surgery necessary? I took PTU for almost 2 years and just received my first negative antibody report and I know eyelid retraction must be treated through surgery but want to know what to expect concerning tissue swelling…as it is still pronounced! Thanks for taking our questions!

Was it worse the second time? What treatment did you choose this time?

I guess this might be a dumb question…but once your have TED and go through cycle of hot phase down to inactive, can you get it again?

Did you have eye issues before? Did RAI make it worse? That is my question. I keep reading RAI can make eyes worse but the opthalmologist that recognized my Graves said she wasn’t aware that it made it worse….which makes me worry. I would say my eye condition is mild (gritty sensation, swelling of tissues above and below eyes, and mild eyelid retraction) I sure dont want it to get any worse!

You said it gave you health back…do you have any related problems now such as eyes, etc? I am newly diagnosed and have my first endocrinologist appt next week. I thought trying drugs first instead of killing thyroid sounded smart. I am so worried about being hypo and all the problems that brings. It is hard to know what to do! I have eye involvement (opthalmologist diagnosed it) but no vision problems such as double vision just lid retraction and gritty sensation.
