in reply to: Radioactive Iodine prep #1069127
I only took the prednisone AFTER the RAI and only took it for two weeks.
My eyes didn’t really suffer too much from my Graves (thankfully!). I just used the eyedrops for a couple of months and stopped. Altho from time to time (maybe once a month – if that) I’ll put some in if they are feeling a little "dry".
in reply to: Donating plasma? #1069290Well, I just found out that I didn’t qualify since my TPO levels for my antibodies were at 16 – which is in "normal range" and they are looking for people who’s ranges are over 34!
Oh well, at least I tried.
Anyone else who wants to check this out, get your TPO or TG levels checked and if they are over 34 – they will be VERY interested in you – and like I said, you can make up to $500 per donation!
in reply to: Unemployed, no insurance – meds running low… #1069503I went by my doctor’s office this morning, and they did indeed have an envelope waiting for me with a month’s worth of samples of my Synthroid waiting there for me.
I made sure to pass along a nice Thank You card to the nurse who did this for me… ” title=”Very Happy” />
in reply to: Unemployed, no insurance – meds running low… #1069502I’m doing fine on the Synthroid. I’m taking .150 mcg. At first I was on 125, but I was feeling pretty rundown, so she upped me to 150 and I feel fine. The ONLY thing that concerns me is the hair loss. My endo told me it’s just a part of the "change" with the hormones and everything and it will all even out and will stop once my body adjusts.
I have a lot of hair already – so thankfully no bald spots. My hair just isn’t as "thick" as it used to be! ” title=”Sad” />
My latest TSH was 2.04 and I was at 6.22 before she switch me to the .150mcg back in May.
in reply to: Unemployed, no insurance – meds running low… #1069500I called my doctor today and the nurse was really nice and she’s setting aside a month worth of samples for me for my Synthroid for me! I can go pick it up any time, and she said to check back with her when they were almost out and if I need more, she’ll help me out. ” title=”Very Happy” />
My labs are in range right now – so I don’t need to worry about doing any other blood work until November, and hopefully I’ll have another job WAY before then.
If anyone is looking for an endo in the Austin, TX area – I HIGHLY recommend Dr Bledsoe for their needs. What a nice lady!! ” title=”Very Happy” />
in reply to: Unemployed, no insurance – meds running low… #1069497Actually, I couldn’t afford to do the Cobra, since I was denied my unemployment, altho I appealed it and my hearing is on Monday (27th) for it, so I’m counting on winning it so I can get some money coming in.
I’ll be calling my doctor this week to see what her suggestions are for me. I know I have about 2 weeks of meds left now…
in reply to: Unemployed, no insurance – meds running low… #1069493Thanks for all the suggestions! I’m going to call my doctor first and see what she can do for me and if not much help there, I may check out the suggestion from Peter for the Abbott Labs.
in reply to: Thyroid Uptake Results…What Were Yours? #1070692Mine was 60% when they did the scan and I took the RAI about an hour later.
in reply to: Help me sleep PLEASE!! #1070655My problem is STAYING alseep. I can go to sleep with no problem, but then I find myself waking up two hours almost every day before my alarm goes off, and then I get to be tired all day. Not fun at all.
in reply to: three weeks post rai… #1070742It’s only been 3 weeks girl, be patient!
I did my RAI Dec 2008, and it wasn’t until the first week of April 2009 when I was "officially" Hypo and started on Synthroid. It takes time. I’m still healing…
in reply to: Leg Cramps? #1070675I’m already on 5000 IU of vitamin D once a week, since my levels were low for that.
I’m going to call her next week and ask about Potassium.
I wish I had someone to massage my legs every night!
in reply to: Wikipedia article about Graves Disease #1070897It doesn’t really look like a normal Wiki page I’m used to seeing? More like a "work in progress" and it’s still being put together??? :” title=”Question” />
in reply to: Weight gain during Graves disease #1070986I’ve been stuck at the same weight for over a month now. It’s as if the scale is "frozen" at this weight, and how I wish it was the weight I wanted to be!
I’m doing a low-carb diet and still going thru my "growing pains" with my Synthroid. My endo raised my dosage about a month ago, but it’s not doing anything, so I think she’s going to have to raise it again.
I’m only hoping that once I get on the correct dosage of my Synthroid, the weight will start to come off.
It’s just frustrating as all get out, dieting and working on it, and nothing happening!
